William McCarty/Nancy Blaker McCarty of Muncy PA
William McCarty and his wife Nancy Blaker McCarty are my gr-gr grandparents. The line looks like this:
Silas McCarty (from Ireland abt 1700?) - Sarah Carrell
Benjamin McCarty - Margaret Walton
Benjamin McCarty - Mary Smallwood
William McCarty - Nancy Blaker McCarty < subject of my query
Charles McCarty - Charlotte Walton
William Edmund McCarty - Francis Spring
George Frederic McCarty - Martha Carson
Ronald McCarty (me) - Corinne Gante
I am interested in any information about any of these folks but especially about William and Nancy. I have no dates for William but I have information that Nancy received a widow's pension from his service in the war of 1812, and other information that he fought in the Mexican American War.
I have a copy of Nancy's will. I had that Nancy and William had eight children:
Robert (b:Aug 10, 1817), Charles (b abt 1826), Elizabeth, Martha,Rachel, Mary, Ann, and George.
I just received a new book entitled "Priceless Treasures" by David L Richards ((c) 2001) which gives short biographies of 71 soldiers from the Muncy PA area who died during the Civil War.
He lists two new sons of Nancy and William. They are Albert, who died at the age of about 19 on April 28, 1862 of typhoid fever and William who died April 3, 1862 after having his leg amputated. He was 28 when he died.
I am very interested in any information anyone can share with me about this family. I am especially interested in:
1. Dates for Albert and William's father, William.
2. Confirmation that William and Nancy did, in fact, have 10 children whose birth's ranged from 1817 to 1842.
3. Birthdate for the son Charles (my great grandfather)
I am also happy to share what I have which includes several volumes of the Muncy Now and Then, the book Early Friends Families of Bucks County PA and Priceless Treasures.
