Jacob & Jsph McCarty TN, AL,1790&1830's
I am looking for information on Jacob McCarty (died between 1797 and 1818) and his son Joseph, as well as the daughter married to James Tagert.Children of James Tagert and his wife were in Marengo Co., AL, by 1831.Daughter, Matilda, married Samuel Minor.They died in Sumter Co., AL, in the 1850's leaving minor children (minor Minors – sorry, I can't help it, Minor is as difficult a name to search as Land).
Bedford Co., Deed Book "F" p. 361 - The Heirs of McCarty to Richard Martin.16 Jan 1797 by Deed convey to Jacob McCarty then of Robertson Co., TN, 400 Acres on south side of Duck River, on Sugar Creek, it being part of Martin's part of a 534 acre tract granted by North Carolina to George Martin and Richard Martin, and Amos Balch.Grant date 10 July 1788, No. 16 of which said 400 acres, there is 325 acres taken by interference of an older claim having 75 acres taken now where as the said Richard Martin has conveyed to the heirs of Jacob McCarty, deceased, 75 acres, adjoins the 75 acres not taken up by older claims.We, James Tagert and Joseph McCarty, Executors of the Last Will and testament of Jacob McCarty, deceased.Wit: John R.
