Are there any other McCartneys out there in Haplogroup E3b or E1b1b? I did the male-line, Y-46 test with Ancestry.com during their half-off sale (under $100) and I'm predicted to be in the E3b or E1b1b haplogroup. Specifically, I'm predicted to be in the E1b1b1a2 (V13+) group. My results are on Ancestry.com, Ybase.org, Ysearch.org, and at www.haplozone.net/e3b/project. So far, my closest genetic match (29 of 32 markers) is with a McCarty family, also tracked back to the mid, late 1700s in Pennsylvania. E3b is a fairly interesting haplogroup as I think it only makes up about 1-3 percent of the population in Britain, where I assume my ancestors originated. There are some indications that my family also had ties to pre-revolutionary Virginia. Free testing is available at SMGF.org with a submitted four generation chart, but their service is SLOW. I sent my sample in a year ago in December and results still aren't posted. I finally broke down and ordered a commercial test. It would be nice if there were more McCartney results available.
