Back in 2000 a lot of Ancestry.com was "free." Myself and other individuals use to use it and also corresponded back and forth on its forums. Now you have to pay to have any access. Also, we just e-mailed one another and shared info.
I also visited the courthouse and library in Rhea County, TN some years back. I have also visited Bledsoe and Monroe counties and did some research there.
In my posting dated 1/23/2009, I stated "As far as I know William McCarter (1769/1770 ca.) and second wife Sallie Brimer had eight children." They are: Margaret A. McCarter, Jesse A. McCarter, Joseph Vineyard McCarter (Born: 1821), William R. McCarter, Jane McCarter, Meridith R. McCarter, Abel McCarter, and Moses McCarter (Born: 1829).
As far as I know, I do not know in total how many children Joseph Vineyard McCarter (1821 - 1872) and wife Rebecca Jane Thurman had. I do have info that Joseph and Rebecca had a son named Moses McCarter (Born: 1859) in Oregon, Missouri and this Moses (Born: 1859) married Mary Ann Shirley in 1879.
Regarding Rebecca Jane Thurman's date of birth 2/19/1823 - it could have come from Ancestry.com, some years back, or perhaps from a book on the history of Reah County, TN.
Sorry I do not have much on Jesse and Rebecca.
