Hi, Bruce;
That's okay.I'm going to try to come to the ceremony.I have it on my list of things to do.Regarding the archives, they have further info on Christopher McCarter's Rev. War service.He served sixty days in the militia during 1780 and 1782.I found in my file more info that he received 10 lbs., 8 shillings and 50 pence.This info is on microfilm.If you get to go, ask for the microfilm that has A. A. (Audited Accounts)4905B.Tese are stored in longated and wide drawers.The staff will help you.
I personally don't have copies.I scrolled through the McCarter males some years back and wrote down "some" of the info.The time, I was there; there was a line of people waiting to print copies off of the microfilm they had in their hand.Back then, the archives only had one machine that could print copies from the microfilm.I sure hope they have updated their equipment since that time.I like the ones where you drop in a quarter and you get your copy.
The pension papers on Walter McCarter at times is very pitiful.He did not have much and had five small children under his care in November of 1828 when he was 77 years old.Yet when he passed away on 8/16/1833, his age is listed as 89.Eleazar McCarter testified on his behalf and stated he was acquainted with Walter and that they were neighbors.He never testified that they were brothers.
Thanks
Anna Walker
