Anna,

First, I know this is not the Hudiburgh website BUT we are trying to find the Genealogy of our Polly McCarter who married the John Hudiburgh, Jr. of which you speak. Her father was said to have been John McCarter of Sevier County, Tennessee.

John Hudiburgh was NOT born in Gibson Co., In., but in Sinking Creek, Franklin Co., TN. (ties in with your explanation of Franklin Co.). He married Polly in Knox Co., TN on 11 November 1807 - I have copy of marriage record from TN. They later migrated to hte Morgantown area of Johnson County, Indiana and are buried there in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Dorothy Reneau/Reno Hudiburgh, Thomas #1's wife, died before he migrated to Morgantown, Johnson Co.,IN and he re-married to a Mary Coker.

So, the long of the short is - The Hudiburgh's migrated and settled to Morgantown, Johnson County, Indiana. There is much history on that family, there.

I do have the info on the formation of the Franklin State, etc. It is too long to post here but I have it in my file if anyone is interested.

Thank you VERY much for the infomation you have posted here. It may just prove to be the thing we need.
At least another place to look.
