I am going to send off for the pension file on the widow of the son of my three-times great-uncle Joseph McCarter. Joseph's son George Birdett McCarter served during the Civil War out of Sevier County, TN as a Confederate soldier. George Birdett McCarter also served for many years as the church clerk for the White Oak Flats (Primitive) Baptist Church in Gatlinburg, TN.

His widow Rhoda Ogle McCarter applied after his death in the early 1900s. I would like to see what she says in the deposition - which battles, he took part in. I hope she gave a lot of details. Can't wait to read it.
