James McCartt and Mary O'Byrns were living near Dublin, Irland. They were married near Dublin. Their first child was bourn there Jan 3, 1754. They named him John.
When John was over two years old, James and Mary McCart and their family sailed to America. They arrived Sept. 1756 and settled in Jamestown Colony. They had at least 12 more children. It is said that James was married twice but there is no proof. The family lived in the wilderness and helped to discover new frontiers. We have a lot of information on the McCartt family.
