I, too, am a direct descendant of John McCarn. He was my great-grandfather. John was father to Levi Luke. Levi was father to Homer and I am daughter of Homer. I only know that John was supposed to have been born in Davidson county, but the courthouse burned in 1820 something. Mary Frances Craton was the daughter of Isaac Craton and I think Nancy Page (someone has my information) , son of Mary Frances Reed, daughter of John Reed and Sarah Kizer, daughter of Peter Kizer and Frances Garmon from Cabarrus County (I think). Isaac and wife are buried at a Church of God on highway 200 out from Locust.
I can't think of the name.
If you have never visited Reed's Gold Mine, it is interesting.

Could you tell me how you descend from John McCarn and do you have anything on him or any of the McCarn's. I would love to know where the McCarns came from originally. If you look up the name in the book Kith and Kin, it
says we are part of the McDonald of the Isles clan. I live in Dallas, N.C.. Are you local?
