I am interested in your McCardle's in Rising Sun, IN. My gggrandmother was Martha Ann Blackburn (d/o Jacob Blackburn) who was married to George Washington Rigor in Rising Sun, IN in 1849. In the 1840 census of Dearborn Co.,IN Jacob had 6 daughters. Two others were identified in the 1850 census of Ohio Co.as Margaret and Elizabeth-- so that takes care of 3 of the 6 daughters. A list of marriages for IN prior to 1850 show a Louisa Blackburn marrying Stephen MCCARDLE on 24 Dec 1840, and a Nancy Blackburn marrying John P. Pepper 15 May 1849. The counties are the same for Martha & Nancy (Ohio Co.) but for Louisa it is Dearborn Co. I believe Ohio was formed from Dearborn but I am not sure of the year. I wonder if there is a connection between your McCardle and the one listed above. Please contact me.
