I did a quick search on Heritage Quest for a Rev. War Pension file for a Richard Applegate, but they don't have one at all. There are quite a few Applegates, all from NJ or NJ/PA. Patrick McCann's file is there. He enlisted in Carlisle, Cumberland Co, PA. I've never seen a relationship even suggested for Patrick and Neal McCann. Have you researched Obedience McCann? The only firm evidence that I have run across is this bit from Fayette Co, KY. Fayette Co, KY, will of Obedience McCann, recorded Nov 1809. 1813, Fayette Co, KY, Examination of accounts of Neal McCann, administrator of the extate of Obedience McCann dec’d. Dec Court 1813. The will only mentions a son Neal, Daughter Polly Bernard, and grandson Valentine Parren Barnard, and granddaughter Frances McCann. I've seen files that say Obedience was either Mother or Father of Neal, but no evidence is ever given.
