The McCampbell and Anderson families were intermarried in VA and moved to Kentucky and Indiana through the New River. The New River Valley appears to be the most popular route. Some travelled across the Native American trail known as the Midland Trail and on to the Ohio River at Pt. Plesant WV.
My Anderson-McCampbell family as far as I can trace travelled the New River Valley route and into the Boonesboro and Harrodsburg area. Brothers of my 6th greatgrandfather Anderson moved to the central Ky area in the 1770's. Most of the Anderson in Anderson Co KY would be these brothers decendants.
Are there Andersons in your line?
