Hi Cecilia, there were McCamishes who settled in Kentucky. The best way to learn if your husband descends from them is to have his DNA tested. There is a McCamish family project here:

You should have at least 37 markers tested; otherwise it is a guess. At 12 markers your husband will match immense numbers of the population so a false positive is possible.
