Looking for any information on two surnames of McCamant and Prior, both were in Ohio - circa 1830s and 1850s. Amelia McCamant married a Joseph Prior of Muskingum Township, Muskingum county,Ohio. They married around 1820s in Ohio and they then moved to Missouri- Osage County, sometime after the 1850 census was taken. Joseph Prior died in 1851, they had several childern. One son start a Flour/Corn Mill, Saw Mill and Carding Mill. And he had some kind training in Gunsmithing too. He was George Washington PRIOR.Born about 1829 and died in the late 1880s and buried at Prior's Mill, Crawford township, Osage County, MO And there was a James McCamant which may of been a brother. He was working for George Prior and a Millwright in 1870s.
If anyone is related these people, please contact me please. And there is any McCamant that had the trade of Gunsmith also. I would enjoy hearing from anyone that's related.
Thanks, Chris Cooper.
