Duncan and David McCallum were living in Marine City (Cottreville Twp.) St. Clair County, Michigan in the 1850s / 1860s. This is across the river from Wallaceberg. I know Duncan, who is my great great grandfather, stated in the 1860 Census he was born in Scotland, but it might be a lead. Duncan had a daughter Margaret and the name was passed down for another three generations, and may yet be for a fourth. I think David is Duncan's brother or some other relative. Duncan worked as a ship's carpenter in Marine City. Shipbuliding was an important industry there during the 19th and early 20th centuries, as it was in Wallaceberg. Two of Duncan McCallum's sons were Great Lakes Captains, Henry and George (or Alexander - I get them mixed up.) Henry is my Great Grandfather. There are many other McCallums in St. Clair County who may or may not be related to Duncan (it's doubtful they're his descendants, though). There is a McCallum Orchard near Jeddo, a few miles north of Port Huron, about 40 miles northwest of Marine City. Because the name is common in St. Clair, Macomb, Wayne, and Oakland counties, you may wish to contact the family history organizations.
