I am slowly tracing this family. Both are on the 1871 census for Bridgeton, Lanark at 192 Dalmarnock Road. Duncan is given as the head (fancy dyer)Dugald his brother. Also his mother Mary (Campbell)born Greenock age stated as 40yrs. Sisters Agnes and Annie born Bonhill. Dugald married Jessie Primrose Semple in 1873 in Bridgeton. The family later moved to Kilpatrick. All apart from one of their offspring emigrated to Canada. Duncan is shown, still in Dalmarnock Road but 292, in 1891 having gained a wife Mary and two children. Mother Mary is nowhere to be seen nor are Agnes and Annie. I have searched Scotlandspeople indexs for deaths, marriages and census for Lanark and Dunbartonshire and come up with zilch. Family rumour says that Dugalds offspring joined an Uncle already in Canada. Father of Duncan and Dugald is given as Donald McCallum (gamekeeper, deceased)on Dugalds marriage certificate. If this is your family, get in touch as contact has been lost. I am the gt gdau. of Dugalds son also Dugald and his wife Isabella Dixon Linda Notify Administrator about this message?
