I am descended from James McAlister who was supposedly born about 1750-51 through James McAllister born abt. 1776 and brother to your Joseph. Then, from him to James McAllister born in 1808. He married Mary Margaret "Peggy" Johnson, born 1819 daughter of Benjamin Johnson and Mary McCallister. There is a possibility that Mary was the second James' sister, but I don't have any evidence. Another researcher told me that it could be. He is looking for information. Do you have any sisters listed for Joseph? If you do let me know, they would be James' too.
James and "Peggy" had eight children. The youngest, Alice Ann was my Great Grandmother. She married Samuel Lewis, and their only child Alma Louise Lewis was my Grandmother. She married James Everett Bird.
I too, have Nancy Jane McCallister and Michael Janey listed in my tree. There is an interesting connection between Mike Janey and my Edwards family (my mother's side). My Great Grandfather Richard L.Edwards' brother Alfred Washington Edwards was married in Mike Janey's home in 1892.(Per Putnam Co. Marriage Records)Small world, ain't it?
If I get a chance after the holidays, I'll try to find a back issue of the Hurricane Breeze newspaper and see if I can find anything about the explosion at the compressor station and if it involved John McCallister.
By the way, to Barbara or anyone else who may be reading this, it probably looks like I can't spell McCallister consistantly. It's just that I get in the habit of spelling the names as I find them in the records. About all of this family that I know personally spell it McCallister, and I guess this is the most common spelling around here.
Another thing Barbara. Is the Eliz. McCallister who married Joseph Jr. the daughter of Olivia McCallister? That's who I have listed, but I don't have her father's name. It's probably on the McCallister website, but I've not seen it.
Thanks in advance for any help, and have a wonderful Christmas!
