I have just figured out today who Addison Fox McCALEB's first wife was. In the bio in my earlier posting was this statement: "Mr. McCaleb was first married in 1883 and to this union were born two children, both of whom are deceased." Now look again at the 1900 census data:

1900 Census
Indian Population
Cherokee Nation, IT
T27N R16E
Pg 128A
1 Jun 1900
hh 2/2
Ln 5

McCALEB, Addison F. Jan 1861 39 TN TN TN Farmer
Ida H. Dec 1871 28 IN KY KY
Lulu M. Jan 1887 13 IT TN KS
Charles G. Apr 1899 3 IT TN IN
(Marr. 9yrs; 2 live births, 1 still living)

It is obvious from this that dau Lulu M. McCALEB was not a dau of Ida HARWOOD, whom Addison m in 1890, when Lulu would have been age 3. Lulu's mother was listed as having been b in KS.

Now consider these two newspaper items from Cowley Co., KS in early 1885:

TORRANCE TROUBLES. "JAY-EYE-SEE."

Winfield Courier, Thursday, February 12, 1885.

Mrs. Fox [actually Mrs. Addison Fox McCaleb], of Coffeyville [actually South Coffeyville, Nowata Co., Cherokee Nation, IT], is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gardenhire, of this city. I have not learned how long she will stay.

G. W. Gardenhire has returned home from the [Cherokee] Nation [IT] where he has been for the past week. He says the beef cattle did not stand the cold weather as well as the stock cattle.

and

THE WINFIELD COURIER,
WINFIELD, COWLEY COUNTY, KANSAS, THURSDAY, MARCH 5, 1885.
TORRANCE ETCHINGS. "DAN."
Winfield Courier, Thursday, March 5, 1885.

Mr. J. L. Higbee and G. W. Gardenhire spent Wednesday in Winfield.

Mrs. [Addison Fox] McCaleb, nee Laura Gardenhire; who has been visiting her parents in this city, returned to her home in the [Cherokee] Nation [IT] Friday morning.

The young folks of Torrance spent a very pleasant evening at Mr. Gardenhire's one night last week.
