I am not researching these families, just happened to be reading an article in the September/October issue of Maryland Magazine. The article includes two pictures of the family home, Antrim, located near Taneytown, Carroll County, MD:
"Antrim was built in 1844 by Col. Andrew G. Ege (1813-1876) on land inherited by his wife, Margaret, from her father, Maj. John McKaleb. The elegant estate was named in honor of the McKaleb family's ancestral home, County Antrim, in Ireland. The property originally consisted of 450 acres; Ege subsequently engaged in farming and raising horses and cows at his new plantation."
About 1856 Ege sold the estate and moved to Kansas.
