Here are a few more documents... Also

James McCaleb Sr. had two additional sons, Ephraim and Caleb. Both were listed when their father's estate was settled in 1848 after wife Mary died. Presumably they were alive at that point because James and Mary's deceased children, i.e, John, Mary and Nancy, were listed as deceased.

I didn't have John, or Nancy listed with James McCaleb. Also where did Ephraim and Caleb go to and who did these people marry.

I have Ephraim McCaleb located but he is much to old to be the son of James Sr. Has to be his brother, from the dated material below. His birth estimated, born bef. 1788. I also thought Old John dying in Missouri before 1830 was just a little off as well, but I couldn't disprove it either. Catch you later, Nancy

Benjamin Greer and James McCaleb lived near Baird's Ferry in 1811. They owned the lands upon which the wetern portion of Little Lott now stands. McCaleb had a cotton gin here in 1820. He was a Primitive Baptist preacher, and preached here as early as 1815. There is a record of his having preached at the house of Henry Truett in 1820. He was a man of energy, and cleared much of the land between the present site of Little Lot and Baird's Ferry. He was the owner of several slaves, and, with their help, operated his gin and also engaged in the raising of cotton. His neighbors also coltivated cotton, which he ginned for them, thereby encouraging the colture of this plant here at an early date. He was buried at the McCaleb (or Old Peach Orchard) graveyard, near the place where now lives Zebulon Hassel the Third. Zebulon Hassell the second was born on October 18, 1804, in North Carolina and came to the Lambert place, on Hassell's Creek, with his father, Zebulon Hassell the first. Here he lived with his father until April 5, 1827, at which time he married Mary McCaleb, who was born on June 27, 1810. Soon after his marriage he lived near Little Lot, where, in 1846, he enlisted in Whitfield's company, First Tennessee Regiment, and served in the war of Mexico. [pg. 92] Greer, together with James McCaleb, owned the larger portion, if not all, of the land from Little Lott to Baird's Ferry. (pg. 345] Alton McCaleb lived for many years in this istrict, and died here. He was a son of James McCaleb, whose father was James McCaleb, of North Carolina. Alton MCaleb, who was born in the Third District in 1823, was for years a magistrate of the Fourteenth District, and was a prominet and influential citizen. He was a gallant soldier in the Civil War, being a lieutenant in the famous Ninth Battalion of Tennessee Cavalry, CSA. He was the father of the following sons: James P., W. M., J. A., Andrew, M. B., M. M., D. R., and Jasper McCaleb. His only daughter was Alena Belle McCaleb. His oldest son, James P. McCaleb, who was born on December 8, 1847, is one of the magistrates of this district.
