Nancy, I am going to print out what you have posted and I will get back to you in more detail after I take a closer look. But here are a few comments: I wasn't the person who told you that John McCaleb Sr. died in MO. This does not seem very likely if his sons were in TN -- but I am open to exploring the idea. Also, there weren't any McCalebs on the 1790 census in Chatham Co., NC, so I am a little suspicious of the birth places for John McCaleb Sr's children. (It is possible that he moved to another county shortly after John Jr was born.) I have a birth date of about 1767 for James McCaleb Sr, but I think you may be right to give him a later birth date. I think Zill Harrington McCaleb, born 1798, was his first child, so 1777 is in the right range. James McCaleb Sr. had two additional sons, Ephraim and Caleb. Both were listed when their father's estate was settled in 1848 after wife Mary died. Presumably they were alive at that point because James and Mary's deceased children, i.e, John, Mary and Nancy, were listed as deceased. More later. Janice Notify Administrator about this message?
