I have an Anthony Carey (b. abt 1811, Castlebar, County Mayo) married to a Mary McCaffrey (b abt 1816 Ireland) who settled in St. Sylvestre, Quebec prior to 1842. They had one son (Martin born in St. Sylvestre in 1842), plus two other children born in St. Sylvestre who must have died young (Bridget b 1845 and Thomas 1846). The family moved to St. Roche parish (Quebec City) by the time of the 1851 census and had three more children (Joseph b. 1850, Catherine b. 1853, and Mary b. 1855) after which they moved to Finch Twp in Ontario and had another daugher Hanora (b 1858). I know there were several McCaffrey families in St. Sylvestre at the time of the 1851 census, but I don't know if I can link Mary to any of them. Does any of this sound familiar??? Good luck.
