I am researching Peter's probable son Joseph McCaffery who married Mary Carey about 1906/07, perhaps in Grafton NH. The 1900 census of Coos, Northumberland, NH has a Peter & Mary McCaffrey, both born Canada, had 11 children, immigrated to the US about 1890, only 2 children living w/ them at the 1900 census [Joseph and Maggie]. The 1881 Canadian census has a Peter [b. about 1841 Quebec] & Mary [b. abt 1845 Quebec] "McKaffray" family residing Ste-Sylvestre, Lotbginiere, Quebec, with 9 children at home [Joseph & Maggie of 1900 NH census would have both been born after 1881]. Living w/ them were Peter's parents Patrick [b. abt 1806 Ireland] & Brigite [b. 1805 Ireland] "McKaffray". The names of the children match partially with other McCaffrey's found living as adults in NH at 1900; but some do not match at all - which may be accounted for by the kids having 2 names and known by one or the other in the 2 different censuses. The names of Peter's children per the 1881 Canadian census were: John Francis b. abt 1865 Robert b. abt 1866 Martin b. abt 1871 Philip b. abt 1872 Michel b. abt 1873 [male] Mary b. abt 1874 Elize b. abt 1877 "Huston" [may be Austin] b. abt 1879 [shown as Female] Staphon b. Jan 1881 Does anyone know anything about these families? Thanks, Kim Danielsen rmagickd @ yahoo.com Notify Administrator about this message?
