Hello this may be of interest to you.My fathers name was James Joseph McCaffrey born 25th April 1917 to Patrick and Susan McCaffrey at Tanitybog near Newtonbutler. My grandfather was registered as a farmer but came to Scotland (I believe) with my father to work on the railways as navvies prior to the war.Eventually they ended up in Buckinghamshire England where I was born in 1953.Of more interest probably is a story my father told of an uncle who was involved in blowing up bridges when he (my father) was a child. I came across a reference to a member of the IRA called McCaffrey in a fairly well respected work on the IRA who blew himself up while priming a bomb. When I remember the title and author I will post again. In the weird way fate works my mothers father was posted to Ireland after the 1st World War.We visited both the derelict farm where my father was born and the barracks where my other grandfather was stationed in the mid 60s.They werent too far apart
