Hello Carrie;
I just returned from being away for four months and received your email re the McBurney's.

Thank you for your information re my posting on Genforum.

My line of McBirney's stems from the Co Cavan area and I doubt that your John McBurney is the same family but who knows for sure. The nmae was spelled in various ways and often without the Mc in front of it.
My grandfather was George McBirney who was born in c. 1870's in Co. Cavan -exactly where I have yet to determine despite many search efforts. His father was a John McBirney who was at the time of my grandparents marriage, was also from Co. Cavan. It is like looking for a needle in a haystack with a name John!
Should you come up with any more McBirney info, I would be pleased to receive it.
Thanks for your email.
