Carol:
I have traced my McBurney ancestors back to "Irish John" McBurney who immigrated to the US in April(?) 1825 with his wife Mary E. (Francis) McBurney and three children, John (b.10/24/1824), James (b. 1821)and Jane (b.1820). It appears they had a son, Thomas, in this country. They lived in Mercer County, PA. In 1868, the family moved to Wyoming Twnshp, Jones Cty, IA. My information indicates "Irish John" was born approx 1778 in Anitrim, NI.

I would like any information you may have on the Irish roots of this family, and their dispersal as the family moved west. Apparently son John (b.10/15/1824; m.8/31/48; d.3/6/1904) married Martha Jane McKean in 1848; James married Margaret McKean (sisters?); Thomas married Sarah Moore and Jane married David Proudfit.

Any information or leads will be appreciated.

Ed McBurney
