I have a feeling, which is usually 50-50 at best, that it might have been Alexander McBurney who is living in Mercer CTY as early as 1800.Unless there is a will or something of that nature, it's going to be difficult to tell exactly who William L. McBurney's parents were.
James McBurney left a will in Washington CTY, PA and William L. is not mentioned as a son.I just received this the other day:
MCBURNEY, JAMES (Page 97)
DATED:27Nov1815
PROBATED:23May1816
EXEC:Joseph McBurney;James McBurnery
WIT:James Weir;Joseph Lawrence;E. Jenkins,Esq.
BENE:WIFE: Elizabeth; SONS: Joseph;James;Alexander,
DAU'S:Mary McCaully;Jane Gillespie;Mary Matthews;
STEPDAU:Margaret Gillespie;
GRANDCHILDREN:James, son of my son Alexander
I don't think James was his only living grandson but then again I haven't looked into it as of yet.Also, mentions his wife as Elizabeth and not Catherine so is Catherine and Elizabeth the same person and is this the same James McBurney listed in Pigeon Creek Cemetery?There were two James McBurneys living in Washington CTY PA in 1790.
