First get a certified copy of Dale and Shelia's marriage licence or marriage application or both. You will get that from the marriage licence bureau of the county where they were married. From the information on the marriage licence you will find state of birth and birth date. Contact that state's Vital Statistic office (responsibility for birth and death records varies by state). Once you have each birth record which will have each parent's name and place of residence, check for a marriage certificate and death certificates in likely states. Once you have reached someone who was alive before 1920, you can search census records. You can also check on filed wills or estates on deceased grandparents, parents when you have a location. To look up infor mation, you need three pieces of information about each individual:name, date(s), and location. Finding out about great aunts/uncles and finding living decendents may provide you with everything you need...there is always somebody who knows something. Get the above info and then you can get into land records and military records. Let me know how it goes.
