Hello Connie, I'm sure that by now you found a William McBroom, age 18, in the 1850 Alabama, Cherokee Co., Dist. 27, son of Jesse and Nancy McBroom. I am trying to trace a connection of a Eschew Loftin who quite possibly married Mary McBroom, daughter of Jesse and Nancy McBroom. In the 1850 Census record, the next family listed is a J.W. Edwards, wife, Ann Edwards, and "Squire Loftin" age 19. In the 1860, Alabama, Cherokee Co., Dist 2, pg 38, is the Jesse McBroom family, J.W. Edwards living with William and Martha Mc Broom, and at the bottom of the same page is Eschew (who I think is Squire in the 1850 Census) and Mary AE Loftin. Since your original posting was in 2001, I was hoping that you may have uncovered more information regarding William McBroom and possibly his connection to Jesse McBroom and information about Jesse's other children, especially Mary. Another clue is that Eschew and Mary have a son, Jesse, age 6 in the 1860 Census, who I am pretty confident is my Gr-Grandfather. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
