I have a Daniel McBride and James McBride that left Henry Co., VA in the late 1790's and probably followed the common migration path into TN stopping around Grainger Co. I don't pick up James again until 1850 in Tippah Co. MS although there are James McBrides in Williamson and Lincoln Cos.(I believe this James came from Guilford Co. NC according to applications for Rev War Pensions.) Check White County for some other McBrides in TN that could have headed south.
