Gerald Edward ‘Buddy' McBride
Gerald Edward “Buddy” McBride, 76, left his beloved earthly family and friends to claim God's
promise of eternal life in glory. Buddy passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at his ranch in Evans
with his family by his side. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Lillian; six children, Eddy
and Polly McBride of Gonzales, Cindy and Kevin Smith, Brent and Betty McBride, Geraldine and
William Mitcham and Keith and Sabrina McBride, all of Evans, and Mike and Melissa McBride of
Baytown, Texas; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two
sisters, Pat Buell and her husband Buddy and Betty Holloway and her husband Homer; one uncle,
D.H. McBride; one aunt, Lucy Emanuell, two sisters-in law, Claudia McBride and Rose McBride.
Buddy was born October 26, 1929, in Goodrich, Texas, to J.B. and Maggie McBride. He was preceded
in death by his parents; three brothers, Truman (Mac), John B. and Jerry McBride; and one sister,
Mattie (Tootsie). Funeral services will be handled by Labby Memorial Funeral Home and will be
held at 2 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 9, 2006, in the Evans Congregational Methodist Church with the
Rev. I.D. Noble, Rev. Melvin Smith, Rev. Walter Collins and Rev. Phillip Jarrell officiating.
He will be laid to rest at the family cemetery (McBride Cemetery) on his ranch in Evans.
