Sir Thomas Macbeth - Scotland - 1700's

My dad gathered and left genealogical information without documenting his sources. I am descended from Henrietta Macbeth who married William Bird Murphy of Union Co, SC. Dad's notes indicate that Henrietta's parents were John Macbeth and Martha Townes and that John's father was Sir Thomas Macbeth.

I have recently found absrtacts of wills for John Macbeth (w.d. 14 Aug 1843) and for his brother Alexander (w.d. 10 Apr 1819). Alexander's will indicates that there were 3 brothers who immigrated (John, James, and Alexander) and 4 sisters who stayed in Scotland (Elizabeth, Jennett, Mary, and Henrietta). According to Alexander's will, James lived in Charleston, SC and Alexander & John lived in Union Co, SC.

Can anyone help me with information on the father of this group of Macbeths? Was there a Sir Thomas Macbeth/McBeth in Scotland who had this group of children?

Any information greatly appreciated. Don't worry about bursting my bubble. It wouldn't be the first time Dad's information wasn't entirely accurate. Happy to share.
