The McBees in Frio Co. tie back to me through my GGGM Dicie McBee who was the daughter of Jessee MagBee.The spellings are different nearly every time you find people in the early records so I've learned how to hunt for a lot of "misspellings."
Jessee McBee (b. 1818) was born in TN, married Lucinda Poole of TN and there children were born in Jackson Co. AL for the most part.In the 1850 Census, they are in Paulding Co. GA and then in Johnson Co. AR in 1860.My Alex McCandless was in the household then, just married to Dicie.
Alex went to war with the 16th AR Inf. CSA and the rest of the family came to Texas. After the war Alex joined the family in Texas, his first child was born in Blanco Co. in 1866 but in the 1870 Census of Atascosa Co., Alex is listed in the Mortality Index as having died in Oct of 1869.Dicie McKanless is surrounded by McBee families.
Dicie remarried in Dec. of 1870 to Jesse Ward Dancer and they move to adjacent Frio Co. where they claimed some land and had two children.Dancer, F.M. McBee, Wm. McBee (age abt 11) and some others were accused of cattle theft and Dancer was accused of murder.Interesting story but cotact me if you are interested.Willie B. Smiths email bounced.
