Hello Lillian
William McBeth my soldier never married. He was 19 years in 9rd regiment: of which 9 years in North America. He was partially blinded become an outpatient Chelsea Pensioner in Feb 1852 and lived until 1878. died in Strichen, Water Steet in Aberdeenshire, Scotland in home he shared with his sister, Christian Hastings.

He fathered 5 children - different mothers, yet all of the family were in contact with each other. My Grandmother, Mary Jane McBeath (her father, Alexander, illeg.) was known as McBeath. Mary Jane married a John Finnie in Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire and she visited all of the descentents very regularly.

there was another William McBeath in the 93rd Regiment who joined earlier than my ancestor. I have brief details of his should you wish.

thankyou for contacting me. sincerely June McBeath Melvin.
