McBays from Scotland or Ireland

Hi,

This is my first time posting on this list. As you can see I am a fellow McBay and am hoping that you might have some information.

I live in a town called Clydebank, which is just outside Glasgow in Scotland. I have been tracing my family tree for the past year and I'm wondering if you have any information on McBays who emigrated from Scotland or Ireland to the USA or Canada.

The name appears to originate in Ireland and there are two distinct branches that came to Scotland. The larger and most prominent branch went to the North East coast to a place called Johnshaven. Information on these McBays is well documented on the net.

My branch concerns 3 brothers who left Ireland for Glasgow. I have traced pretty much all of their ancestors, probably caused there isn't that many of them.

I have managed to trace these three brothers (James, John and Thomas) back to Donegal, where their father was born in the late 1700s (Arthur). I'm struggling to go back any further than this, so I'm hoping to go sideways and try and link my tree to any McBays who emigrated.

I'd appreciate any help anyone may have.
