Well, guess my search for Thomas McAvoy b. Ayrshire,Scot.1830 will have to be officially declared a brick wall. Thomas was married three times, the last to my great grandmother. His first wife may have been a Ferguson. She was certainly a Scot. Her son by Thomas, John McAvoy, b.1857. John and wife Margaret Nolan, married in 1881, had Edward A. 1882, John Ferguson 1883, James F. 1885, Susan F. 1892, Francis S. 1893. John Ferguson did not survive infancy.

In the 1920 Census, John and Margaret are living in Prospect Park section of Brooklyn. They spell their name MacAvoy, as did his step-brother, Thomas Francis, my grandfather. In this household is Francis, a single man. Edward also lives at the same address with his wife Genevieve and three children, Mary b. 1909, Helen b. 1911, John b.1914.ANYONE?
