Here is what the article said on your John McAvoy:
Chicago Tribune--
QI have an old beer bottle that I've had for many years. It has the name McAvoy Brew Co.,Chicago, ILL,65 ABC written on the front.Count you find out how old it is?

A--According to John Panek, the 1st Chicago Bottle Club, there was a McAvoy Brewing Compnay during the 1880s.It was owned by John McAvoy. He first bought an interest in a malt house known as Downer, Bemis, and Co. in 1865.In 1882 the name was changed to the Bemis and McAvoy Co.The company was consolidated with another brewery under the name of Chicago Breweries Limited in 1889.The McAvoy name remained, however, Panek says Chicago, during this period, could very well have adopted the nickname "Beer Capital of the World".The bottle you have is very common to area bottle collectors. The numbers and letters on it are production identification marks and initials of the American Bottle Co. a major producer of bottles in Chicago from 1905 to 1916.This is verylikely the period when the one you have was made.
