William McAteer of Dungannon, Tyrone
William McAteer married Jane Burrows, and they farmed near Dungannon, Co. Tyrone.Jane died in the Great Famine, so William and his children left the farm, and
sailed for Canada in 1847, to join Jane's sister, Anabella, who had married Andrew Stewart, and settled in Thornton, Ontario. The children lived with the Coffeys in Ontario.Later, William married a Mrs. Wilson of Mulmur, Ontario. The McAteers arrived on the same boat as the Wilsons, so there may be a connection. We would be grateful to hear from a Wilson, Coffey, Stewart, Burrows, McAteer,
or anyone else for whom this rings a bell.
