I'm searching for the parents of David Greathouse McArthur. He was born about 1780, and married Susannah Trent in 1820 in Patrick County, Virginia. He died around 1835 while building a saw mill down in Georgia. He is said to have been one of seven brothers and is said to have helped build ships during the War of 1812 for Oliver Perry. Another family story is that he was involved in the battle of Lake Erie in 1813. His name first appeared on the Patrick Co., VA personal property tax lists in 1819; there were no others of that surname in that county. Thank you for any leads!
