I am looking for the marraige of Duncan McArthur and Margaret Smith in Scotland around the 1828 mark but could have been a lot sooner. They were the parents of John McArthur born some time in 1828 in Scotland who married Isabella Stevenson daughter of John and Christian Stevenson at Cambuslang on the 2 December 1856, Isabella and john then emigrated to Tasmania as bounty immigrants aboard the "Broomielaw" on her maiden voyage arriving 311 st March 1857. I cannot find Johns birth either but have been attempting to check through al of the ancestry.com John McArthurs , I did find one with a much older couple in their 80's in the 1851 census with a son Peter aged 40, John cold have been a late baby. The combination of duncan and Margearet were correct but I do not know the surname of the Margaret. She would need to be smith as that is what is on John and Isbellas marraige certificate
Does anyone know of this couple please. Mre likely to be from the western side of Scotland I think.
