I don't know why I didn't see all this (or maybe I did and forgot). Anything else you can tell me about the McAnultys? My ancestor, John Lewis Mc(a)Nulty, is a little bit of a mystery. It was passed down in the family that he was a '49ers who "ran away to California" and deserted his family, but when my father started researching family history he got a different story from his uncle - something about his being "thrown down a well because he beat up his wife one too many times." The alleged perpetrators were her brothers.

Also, have you ever run across a Giles McAnulty? I don't suppose he is connected, but I keep running across him in researching a different branch of my family, and McAnulty isn't a common name.
