McAndrew Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Pauline, thanks for posting. I recently found out the names of the siblings of my John McAndrew (he spelled the name without the "s" but that was so interchangeable that you can't rule out any connections in the general spelling vicinity). He only had one brother that we know of named Peter who was born in 1830 and settled in Olyphant PA. John's daughter did marry an Ed Lynch, so its possible the families may have known each other from the crossing, even though that marriage was in the next generation. We know John's son John's middle name was Thomas (the obit I posted), and are thinking that Thomas may have been the older John and Peter's fathers name too. We know from a letter that the parents of Peter, John, Ellen and Mary McAndrew came too and are buried in Hawley, but have not yet found people in the Hawley census nor the church cemetery they belonged to that fit the estimated ages they should have been. So their names remain a mystery, but in a letter from Peter to his niece he states his parents are buried in Hawley. Anyway I haven't come across anyone named Phillip or mention of White Haven yet in connection with this group, but maybe Phillip was the brother of the immigrant we think might be named Thomas. That would make him born early 1800's, as son Peter was born in Ireland in 1830. If you'd like to email me to compare notes, please do.
