Hello Lois,

I am Raymond Keller III (just Ray K is fine except for genealogical purposes).

Yes, my McAnally family is from Cameron, Texas. But I did not know about the branch in Monahans, TX.

My greatgrandfather is Oscar Fides McAnally in Cameron as well. I am sure that you probably knew that he was editor of the Cameron Herald there and was murdered in Cameron

I note that you live in Georgetown. It would be an easy drive to Cameron to see his grave there. His beloved wife Ida is also buried there. And in addition, a number of the Battes, including especially Big Sister (my childhood name for Lelia McAnally Batte, Dan's sister.) Seems like the cemetary is City Cemetary. Or maybe Cameron Cemetary. It is not far off the square.

I, and my sister Bettie Maureine, have researched some in Cameron on Oscar Fides death. Results have so far been inconclusive.

Bettie and I are the progeny of Mary Stuart Williams Keller. My mother's mother was Maureine McAnally, another of Dan's sisters.

I am interested in finding out more about the McAnally's origins, and about
the McAnallys in Monahans. I have some information about the Peeler's (Ida Joyce McAnally was Dan's mother, and her grandfather was James J Peeler. This grandfather was a partner with Oscar Fides in the Cameron Herald. Oscar Fides, as you probably know, has his picture in the Texas Capitol Bldg as a member of the legislature.

I am in NM in my summer home and don't have detailed information, and there are details that I cannot recall from memory (like which year Ike--Oscar Fides--served in the Legislature or the date of his death. Both were in the early 1900s. I can give more detail another time when I have my genealogy files handy.

Any information about Ida Joyce McAnally would be appreciated. Especially about the names, dates of Ida's mother and father.

Thanks for getting in touch

Raymond Keller, III
