You know, our reserch is real close to connecting, but I just don't know what the connection is, I have researched three brothers from Northeast in Dutchess County who were Loyalists during the Revolution. They were Walter McAlpine (1751-1836) and his brothers Daniel (1749-1831) and John (who died during the Revolutions). They were all members of The King's American Regiment. One of Walter's sisters, Margaret McAlpine, married a Peter Keefer and had three children....Catrina (b. 1783)......John (b. 1786).......and Walter (b. 1782). Does any of that look familiar? Most of this family ended up in Hillsdale, Columbia County. Walter and Daniel spent some time in exile in New Brunswick, Canada after the Revolution, but were back in NY during the 1790s. I also have an old family history that says that Walter McAlpine was "born at sea".
