From Herb Hays- This may go back further than anything you have but you might find some connection. Patrick Hays Sr 1704-90 came from Derry area of northern Ireland with brothers & sisters, landed in Chester Co PA circa 1727 (area later became Lancaster Co then Dauphin Co. He married Jean McKnight 1712-92 in Lancaster about 1729. I have 2 fellow Hays researchers who came up with this- Jean's father was John McKnight (some old records put McNutt, McNitt)and her mother was Mary McAllister. They probably all came from Ireland. Note that there was one McKnight (McNutt) who came over to Chester Co in 1722- Alexander McKnight. He could be related to the Jean McKnight in question. Later, some of Patrick's nephews and grandnephews married into both the McKnight and McAllister families in PA in the late 1700's. Somebody in the McKnight gedcom stated that they have early 1700's ship records Ireland to PA. Check that out.
