Hi Gloria
Both families have a connection with Kintyre, Argyllshire and the Stafford children have names, which share some similarities with my McAlisters so I think a connection of some kind is possible. Your Catherine McAlister married in 1826. Do you know her age? I have a Catherine McAlister b.1794, who at 32 would be a little old and of course she was definitely born in Scotland whereas yours claims to be born in Tennessee. My Catherine and Hector McAlister's older brother Archibald bapt 1784 married Catherine McFarlane however so logically they would have named one of their daughters Catherine and quite possibly had a son called Hector. Perhaps they migrated to America. On the face of it here is enough time for your Catherine to be the daughter of Archibald and Catherine and be married in 1826. Unfortunately I haven't got Archibald and Catherine's marriage date recorded in my papers. I will need to check with my mother, who did this research. Email me at pollitt@xtra.co.nz and I will send you what info I have and anything more I get from her later.
Cheers
Margaret
