Dorinda, Dr. Mary Webb Hendrixson has not been active with the Clan McAlister of America for several years. Due to her health she is no longer active in genealogy research and she has changed her E-mail address.
Underwood McAllister mustered at Clarksville, Johnson Co., AR, Feb. 1862 in the 10th Rgt. AR Militia, Co. E. to Mar. 1862. He Enlisted in the AR 7th Cavalry Oct. 3 1863 Clarksville, AR. No age is given. Also, a Wyatt C. Massey was mustered in the 10th Regt. AR Militia at Clarksville. No age given. The 1860 Census has Wyatt S. http://couchgenweb.com/civilwar/
It seem this family disappeared. No before or after the 1860 census. However,the 1860 Census indicated Underwood was born 1844 in KY. In the 1880 census their is a Underwood McAllister living with the Louis Mehrtens family in Kaweah & Mineral King, Tulare, CA. Underwood is listed as born 1845 in KY. This could be a match with the 1860 census in AR. Clues from the 1860 census of Johnson Co., AR indicate that Martha age 20 bn. in KY may be Wyatt's second wife. So Jane McAllister, is a possible mother-in-law with Martha and Underwood as children. I have checked the 1850 all surname index for Jane McAllister and did not find her listed with or without a McAllister husband. So she could have been living back in KY or another family in AR.
