This is strictly a longshot. My great grandfather was also from Missouri. We believe from St. Louis area. He may have been born in Ste. Genevieve Co., Mo.He was JOHN WILLIAM BERRY McALISTER b. 21 June, 1856. His mother died when he was small and his father was a cooper (barrel maker) who traveled. JOHN and several siblings were left in a Catholic orphanage in the St. Louis area. at around age fourteen (about 1870) he was place with a Catholic family in western Tenn. His siblings were Alice, Edward and Charles and perhaps others. All names have been lost as far as his parents. If any information seems to fit please contact me.
