McAliley is the English form of Mac Ailghile, without doubt

It seems that there has never been a hard definitive statement of how MacAilghile (son of Ailghile/Gailghile/Gaillghile/Ghaillghile and not anything too much different than these) relates to McAliley. They are variants of each other and their pronunciation is near identical. The Calally/Callely/... names appears to be those willingly or most unwilling who yielded their Mac to the demands of the crown.

There seems little doubt that they are as likely connected to the Mac Ghaillhile sept of the clan Mac Guire as are the McAlileys of America.

There is existing on the Internet others of MacAilghiles name, who clearly immigrated from one island to the south of the larger easterly one (aghast) and they can be found in great numbers of posts on the Internet, if you understand that the spellings were anglicized from the Gaelic and none have to match.

Yes, I am intentionally leaving the spelling of these who have a most similarly pronounced name to McAliley and MacAilghile but not to Calelly/Calally, lacking that first syllable, out for it is not easy to guess, some work being required.
