Dan, I have a copy of the research done by Mr. Preston McAlhany of Newberry, SC also, with much more on your end of the family too, so hang onto my email address in the event that you need further information and I will be happy to share what I have with you.

The other folks who replied to your query were also right to a certain degree...I was referring to the spelling of the name more than where it originated in the old country.
We are Scots-Irish and the name is Celtic in originality. I always say we are a dukes mixture...
